Who am I? I guess my story begins with my crazy childhood! I am what people refer to as an “Army brat,” or a child raised in a military household. Basically, I spent the first 18 years of my life moving from state to state and I can honestly say it was a great childhood. My parents provided me with experiences that most kids probably don’t receive. As a result, I have been to approximately 35 states and lived in Germany as a child. I guess you can say that’s why I thoroughly enjoy traveling to this day.
I don’t consider myself as a very interesting person. You have those people who are extremely fascinating individuals with impressive hobbies and skills, but that simply isn’t me. I’m just that one overly enthusiastic, positive individual with a desire to learn and try new things! Occasionally, I like to think I’m a little bit adventurous, though. It probably sounds silly, but I’m obsessed with checking items off of my bucket list (the same list I’ve had since I was ten). I’ve managed to try out sky diving, parasailing, jet skiing, and more in this past year! I’m ambitious to do more soon (I’m thinking bungee jumping or riding a hot air balloon next, but we’ll see). It amazes me how many people limit themselves by not traveling or trying something a little out of the ordinary every once and a while. Life is so short and I refuse to die without having a few awesome stories to tell! 😉
At this moment, I’m about to begin graduate school at the University of Nebraska Omaha to obtain my Master’s in Business Administration. Why? It’s a dream of mine to be able to teach at a university level and education is a requirement for that at most universities. I remember being a little kiddo teaching my stuff animals how to read and do math. A bit has changed since then; I’d rather teach marketing or business classes now!
My passion is in marketing. I’m one of those people who enjoy watching commercials, just so I can pick apart and judge its effectiveness. Probably kind of lame, but it’s a way of learning, right? Although I love marketing, there is so much I have yet to discover and learn. It’s awesome because I get to try new things all the time through working at Appsky Labs as the Head of Marketing. Whether it’s dabbling in a different type of social media post or thinking of creative ways to market us, I’m always engaged and learning! It’s neat seeing the “behind the scenes” parts of social media and looking at the analytics of what posts attract people at what time of day and so on and so forth. Lately I’ve been learning the basics of design on Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. Thankfully, we have an awesome Creative Director, Evynne, who knows everything there is to know about design and is patient enough to show me a few tricks here and there!
There isn’t much else to it. I love meeting new people and being positive. If you want to know anything else about me, ask. I’m a pretty straight forward person. If you actually read this entire blog post through, you deserve a cookie or something.
